The state of my union, 2011...1/29/2011 5:48:00 PM
Hey kids, the site has not been updated for quite some time now, so I thought I would throw out a few words. 2010 was a slow year for me in the racing world, and I only raced a few times which was not my original plan. I have grown very bored of the local racing scene due to lame and poorly prepped tracks, no purse money, and the same ol' 2-3 faces at the starting gate every race. And yes, literally only 2-3 guys to race against most weekends. 2011 however, has been very exciting for me. I made a move to the Phoenix area in November and will be here through March. I dont plan on racing much down here, but have been riding every weekend. The tracks in the "valley of the sun" are very well prepped and very fun! I am currently battling a hand injury I suffered at my favorite track. (Grindingstone MX) I never went to the ER to see if anything is broken or not, but 2 weeks later I taped it up and burned some motos. Im far from 100% but am able to have fun riding and am hopeful my hand will be fully healed in the next couple weeks. I am hoping to stay in good "riding condition" over the winter and start to hit up some races when I get back to the Midwest this spring. I would definitely like to take a stab at the Vet National Series again this summer, but we will see... I posted some new pictures of my personal track from last fall, and also from riding trips to Ocotillo Wells and Glamis in southern California. Click on my "photos" link and check em out.

Racing Season is near!!!3/14/2010 4:33:00 PM
Well it has been a long winter and I have been ready for spring since about last November. I haven't raced since Thanksgiving weekend due to a couple "back to back" concussions, but I have been riding a decent amount considering it's winter time. I have made 4 trips to the Sandbox Arena, 1 trip to the Fergus Falls indoor, and just got back from a ride in Oklahoma City last week. MSR, Motorex, and Driver Websites are all in line to help me again this year and a huge thanks goes out to all of them. I also have one more potential sponsorship deal in the works and should know more in the near future. I have posted a tentative schedule here on the site, and hope to start the season off in two weeks (Mar. 28) at Challenge Trax in Kingsville MO.

Update Update Update!!!9/17/2009 8:03:00 PM
Well the last month or so has been kinda rough for me. Ive been going through some pinched nerve issues in my neck and shoulder due to a big crash at the Sioux Empire Fair. I don't even want to get into the crash details though!! Those of you who witnessed it, you know what's up.... Strange deal, but anyway I wasn't able to race the Red Bud MI round of the Racer X Vet Series due to the injury, which totally screwed me in points. On top of that, at the Wisconsin round, I was dealt a flat front tire on lap three of the first moto. This held me back to 7th overall for the day. I have had nothing but bad luck in this series but I am going to tough it out and hit up the last round in 2 weeks. Maybe my luck will change. The Neck and shoulder are finally healed up and I am riding regularly again. Hope to see you at the races!

I really need figure out my starts!6/12/2009 6:07:00 PM
On May 31st I raced at the good ol' Sioux Valley Cycle Club just minutes from my house. Due to some morning rain the track actually stayed pretty good despite the usual high winds that always seem to haunt that place. Because of bad starts I was only able to manage a 5th place overall. However, it was cool to see all of us bunched up together all the way till the checkers. 1st through 6th all seemed to be about the same speed, it just came down to getting the holeshot. On another note, last weekend was the first round of the Vet National series at Millville. While Friday's practice was absolutely amazing, on Saturday morning the rain started and didnt stop. The race came down to getting a good start and surviving the whole moto without dumping it over in the mud. Before the gate even dropped for the first moto my goggles were already impossible to see out of due to the rain falling in between my tear offs. When the gate did drop I found myself with a last place start. (excellent) The track was absolutely miserable but I was able to pass about half the field in four short laps. After the disappointment of my first moto I was determined to redeem myself in the second, but I wouldnt get the chance after officials called off the second motos.

Outdoors finally started!!!5/13/2009 8:22:00 PM
After multiple rain outs to start the racing season we are finally getting to go play outside. The last two weekends I have raced at Fiddler Creek MX in Homer NE, and Scramblers MX in Yankton SD. I scored a decent 5th and a 5th overall at the two tracks who were competing for top dust bowl 2009 honors. This weekend I am pumped to get to go and ride a track that has actually been prepped. (first round of Racer X Vet Nationals in Byron Illinois!!)

Bad Boys of Arenacross...2/12/2009 9:49:00 PM
Checkered Flag Productions came to town on Saturday Jan. 31st to put on an arenacross in conjunction with their usual monster truck show. We were greeted with a "cobble job" of a track, but the $500 to win more than made up for it. With the track being very hard to pass on I knew it would be crucial to do good enough in my heat race to start on the front row. Of course, I ran into a downed rider in my heat race and tipped over, forcing me to start on the second row for the main. However, even with back row start I managed to pass my way up into 4th place where I would finish. Congrats to my boy Brandon Kruger for taking the $500 win. I would also like to take the time to once again thank Driver Websites for all the work they have done for me. The results I have received because of DW has FAR exceeded my expectations. If you don't know, well now you know. Sucka

Round 3 Sandbox...12/17/2008 4:02:00 PM
A fun filled night of crashes and block passes were in store for me at the Sandbox Arena on Saturday night. However, looking on the bright side, at least now I know that it is hard to score a high overall finish when you crash 3 out of 6 moto's. I really don't have much to say about the race other than that I rode well, I just need to put the whole thing together. I am also happy to still be walking after coming down off a jump, and landing on a man sized snail that high jacked a Yamaha and got loose out on the track. Until next time kids - Keep the rubber side down.

Sandbox Arena...11/19/2008 8:44:00 PM
Early Friday morning as I was driving to Interlakes Sport Center, (nice sponsor plug ehh) I decided that I better do some riding soon. So the next day, I rounded up some "man friends" and headed to the Sandbox Arena just east of St. Paul for round 2 of their Winter MX Series. Despite a ridiculously long program that took nearly 9 hours, I had a great time on a very fun track. Deciding to "nut up" and be a man for once, I raced three different classes, the 250 and open pro, and the +25 A. I ended up finishing 5th, 4th, and 2nd overall respectively. I did manage to score an easy first moto win in the +25A class, but only to suffer a crash in the second moto which kept me out of the overall. Sure I had some bad luck again this last weekend, but there were a lot of positive things going on too. I know I had the speed to win any of the classes and my starts were really pretty good all night as well. If only the ol' "arm pump ferry" didnt decide to visit me again the night before a race, I truly think I would be blogging about my 3 wins right now. I am really looking forward to Midwest Supercross in Brookings next weekend!!!

Last Renner National of the year...9/22/2008 3:55:00 PM
Sunday brought us yet another windy race day at Saddleback MX in Renner SD. Along with the wind, also came another pair of 4th place moto finishes. The good news for me though, is that my speed is really starting to come around. In the second moto, 1st through 4th (me) were separated by only a few seconds for the first half of the race. Me and Mike Kruger had a good battle for third going until I "squirreled" out in the roller section, on I believe the 4th lap. I never really quit recovered from the mistake, and to be honest I've realized I need to hit the gym a little harder during the week. Because of this, a Bowflex purchase is in the works at the moment. With a little more training and some more time on the 450, I know I can run the pace up front. Oh yeah, and for the love of dirt naps!!! I need to start pulling some decent starts!!! Props goes out to the SVCC and the Krugers for doing a great job with the track. Despite the natural blow dryer, the track stayed really good the whole day.

Midwest SX at Sioux Empire Fair...8/12/2008 7:46:00 PM
Saturday night definitely had it's ups and downs but all in all turned out to be a pretty good night. In my heat race I had a pretty big "get off" over the finish line triple, when the rider in front of me backed off at the last second. I didnt have enough time to fully react and ended up casing the jump big time. (Side note: Braden Parks would have easily gone on to win the heat race but, while all alone out front, stalled his bike in a corner uncontested. But that is neither here nor there.) Anyway, my crash forced me into the last chance qualifier which I easily won. Despite a poor gate pick due to having to qualify out of the LCQ, I managed to pull off a decent mid pack start. That is pretty much where I would end up when the checkers waved. (8th) Overall, considering the stiff competition, I was fairly happy with my results. More importantly though, the gap that separates me from the front is shrinking quikly.
